Special events scheduled at Palmdale attractions

The city of Palmdale is presenting a series of fun, diverse and patriotic events for residents to enjoy on and around the upcoming Fourth of July holiday.

“Our nation’s independence is something worth celebrating, and this year we have put together several activities for people of all ages to enjoy,” said Keri Smith, Palmdale director of recreation and culture. “We’re also encouraging people to share their experiences on social media by posting photos or comments using the hashtag  #palmdalecelebrates2019. As an incentive, we will be giving away multiple four packs to DryTown Water Park.”

The events include:

DryTown

Celebrate Old West style this evening from 7 to 10 p.m. at DryTown Water Park, 3800 E. Avenue S. There will be free lawn games and discounts on concessions.

Yellen Dog Park

The Patriotic Pooch Parade returns to Yellen Dog Park, 5100 E. Avenue S.  Show off your pooch and let your creativity soar tomorrow from 9 to 11 a.m. Themed and decorated canines and wagons are encouraged. Parade starts at 10 a.m. Prizes for best dressed and most creative wagon. Festive and yummy “Puppuccinos” and photo area for all participants.

McAdam & Marie Kerr Pools

Attend the “Red, White & Cool Pool Party” tomorrow from noon to 3 p.m. at Marie Kerr Park Pool, 2723 Rancho Vista Blvd., and also from from 2 to 6 p.m. at McAdam Park Pool, 38115 30th St. East. Water games, music and tons of fun are part of the festivities. One to one, in-water supervision by an adult is required for children under 47 inches tall. Free admission for June 29 only. Space is limited.

Palmdale Amphitheater

The Freedom Celebration & Fireworks show will take place tomorrow at the Palmdale Amphitheater, 2723 Rancho Vista Blvd. Musical entertainment will be provided by Petty and the Heartshakers. Gates open at 5 p.m. Parking is limited and attendees are encouraged to take alternative modes of transportation.  Visit PalmdaleAmphitheater.com for tickets and complete details.

Palmdale City Library

The library will show  “Independence Day” on Wednesday, July 3 at 5:30 p.m. Arrive at 5 p.m. for  cake and refreshments in celebration of Independence Day and to participate in holiday trivia with prizes. The address is 700 E. Palmdale Blvd.

Legacy Commons

Enjoy a “red, white and blue party” and “freedom bingo” on Wednesday, July 3 from 1 to 3 p.m.  at Legacy Commons, 930 E. Avenue 9. Wear red, white and blue and your bingo cards are free. Maximum up to six cards while cards last, space is limited, first come first served. Must be 55 years and older to participate. Bingo cards will be available at 12:30 p.m.

Domenic Massari & Marie Kerr Parks

Enjoy a good old fashioned Field Day at the parks from 9 to 11 a.m. on July 4. Admission is free. Bring your competitive spirit and get ready to play some wacky games. Fun patriotic photo area and patriotic giveaways while supplies last. Domenic Massari Park is located at 37716 55th Street East.
