Best Start West Athens recently announced its 3rd Annual Cardboard Car Show scheduled  June 8, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Century Park Elementary School, 10935 S. Spinning Ave., in Inglewood.

The event is a family friendly activity to celebrate Father’s Day that allows fathers and father-figures to bond with children by building cardboard cars.

Best Start West Athens created Cardboard Car show to provide a free event for fathers and families to bond while building social connections and creating lasting memories. Children who do not have fathers will have the opportunity to work on the activity with a volunteer from Best Start West Athens and Project Fatherhood of the Children’s Institute. Both organizations specialize in helping parents to improve the family structure and lives of their children. The Cardboard Car Show will also feature resources, free food, and music.

“I had a great time attending the Car Show with my three youngest kids,” said Khari Lobin, a Los Angeles-area parent. “It was fun building our car and painting it. It was a memorable experience for us all.”

Best Start West Athens believes that when parents and neighbors work together, it makes the families of West Athens stronger. In addition to hosting their annual events, Best Start West Athens provides parent services like self-help classes, small group trainings, pre-natal support and social connections. The leaders and participants of the Best Start West Athens agree that being a parent is the most important job a person can have.
