Compton church celebrating 151st anniversary

First United Methodist of Compton is celebrating its 151st anniversary on Sunday, April 28. “The public is invited to join us for our 151st birthday party,” says Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Arnetha Inge. According to Inge, FUMC is one of the oldest religious institutions in California. The church’s anniversary theme is “Remember… God’s Love and Light Will See Us Through.” Guest speaker will be Rev. Dr. Christopher Carter, who began his tenure of religious leadership as the senior pastor of FUMC back in 2010. He is currently the assistant professor of theology and religious studies at the University of San Diego. FUMC’s address is 1025 S. Long Beach Blvd. in Compton.
