The NAACP announced today that “blackish” star Anthony Anderson will return to host the 50th NAACP Image Awards for the sixth consecutive year.

Anderson is a two-time NAACP Image Awards winner for his role as Dre Johnson on the ABC comedy series and is set to star in the upcoming Netflix film “Beats.”

“We are pleased to have Anthony as our host for our 50th anniversary,” said NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson. “Anthony’s charisma on stage has won over our audience and continues to bring in new viewers every year.”

The Image Awards will be handed out during a two-hour live special airing on TV One on March 30 from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. In addition to the traditional awards categories, Rep. Maxine Waters (CA-43), will be honored with the NAACP Chairman’s Award “in recognition of individuals who demonstrate exemplary public service and use their distinct platforms to create agents of change.”

Voting is open to the public through March 13 for all Image Awards general categories. Individuals do not need to be members of the NAACP in order to cast their votes at vote.naacpimageawards.net/.
