A Florida-based rapper who recently collaborated with Kanye West was arrested in connection with the murder of two men. YNW Melly is being accused of murdering and covering up the deaths of the two men who were reportedly close friends.

Melly, whose real name is Jamell Demons, was arrested Wednesday evening, according to the South Florida Sentinel. He is being charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of Anthony Williams, 21, and Christopher Thomas Jr., 19, which took place last October. Broward County Judge Jackie Powell ordered that Melly remain in jail without bond. A man named Colin Henry, 20, was also arrested in connection to the murders.

According to police, Melly was the one who shot the two men while Henry drove the car that dropped the two bullet-ridden bodies at a hospital emergency room. The two reportedly staged a crime scene to make it seem that the two men were victims of a drive-by shooting. But investigators felt that Melly’s story just didn’t add up and didn’t match the evidence. Melly turns himself in on Wednesday after posting that he was going to do so on his Instagram page. Melly claims his innocence and that the system “want to find justice” … “but no worries, God is good with me…” Ironically, YNW Melly’s biggest song to date was “Murder on My Mind” from March 2017.
