House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) is accepting internship applications for his summer internship program. McCarthy released the following statement on the internship program:

“Having served as a congressional intern, I found the experience of serving our community and country as a young adult incredibly fulfilling. It propelled me to continue working on behalf of our community to this day. I encourage college students and recent graduates who are particularly interested in learning more about the federal government to apply for an internship in my office.

“We face an important opportunity in our country’s history to provide a more prosperous future for all. This internship offers the ability to learn more about the federal issues important to our community and build to that brighter future.”

Summer Internship applicants should be enrolled in college, at least in their first year of post-secondary studies, with a minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average and possess good writing and computer skills. Preference will be given to residents of California’s 23rd Congressional District (which includes portions of Kern, Tulare, and Los Angeles counties); however, all applications will be considered.

Summer interns are responsible for their expenses, including transportation and lodging costs, and may be eligible to receive a $1,500 stipend, before taxes, if the intern is a resident of the district and works in both the Bakersfield and Washington offices. The summer internship program generally spans eight weeks. Interns spend two weeks in the Bakersfield office and six weeks in the Washington, D.C. offices.

Applications and supporting documents should be emailed to: Robin.Lake-Foster@mail.house.gov. Applications must be emailed no later than Friday, March 15. Applicants are advised to submit their application as early as possible.
