Special King Day breakfast in Carson

Celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. from Jan. 19-21 at the KidSpace Children’s Museum, 480 N. Arroyo Blvd., in Pasadena. The event takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Representatives of Project Giving Kids will be on hand daily from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Community service opportunities will be offered to allow family and friends to learn about ways to help improve their neighborhood. The California Step Association will present  a cultural presentation on the life of Dr. King and the meaning of Black History Month.

On Jan. 26, a Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Breakfast Celebration will take place from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., at Congresswoman Juanita Millender-McDonald Community Center, 801 E. Carson St., in Carson. Sponsored by the Los Angeles Inter-Alumni Council of the United Negro College Fund, the event will feature keynote speaker Michael L. Thurmond, chief executive officer of DeKalb County, Ga. There will be an HCBU roll call, musical performances, and a number of local venders present.
