Having the proper car seat for your infant and toddler can often mean the difference between life and death in case of an accident. On Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. a free Child Safety Seat event will take place at the Council District Nine Constituent Services Center, 4301 S. Central Ave.

Families will have the opportunity to have certified technicians inspect their child safety seats to make they are installed properly. Also that day, attendees can receive free flu shots and obtain valuable information about their neighborhood from the Zapata King Neighborhood Council and other community partners.

The next day at First AME Church, 2270 S. Harvard Blvd., a voter registration and resource fair will take place at 2 p.m. in the church parking lot. Car enthusiasts will have an opportunity to view more than 300 Corvettes, motorcycles and other classic cars which will circle the property.

Organizers of the car seat inspection suggest you make an appointment at (323) 846-2651. Learn more about the voter registration drive by calling (323) 735-1251 or by visiting www.famechurch.org.
