Forbes has issued a list of the 25 most powerful women in sports, with Michele Roberts, who runs the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) at the top. She reportedly handles some $300 billion in assets with the organization. In third place is tennis super star Serena Williams, who has earned $84 million in tennis titles, but her biggest money comes from endorsement deals with companies such as Nike, JP Chase, Gatorade and Wilson, to name a few. The list also includes other women of color, such as former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice at No. 7, who is a member of the NCAA’s commission on college basketball. Pamela El, who is vice president and chief marketing officer of the NBA, comes in at No. 12. At No. 15 is Sheila Johnson, co-owner of the Washington Mystics, Wizards and Capitals. Katrina Adams, the first African American CEO of the United States Tennis Association and a former player, is No. 16, followed by Lisa Borders at 17 – she is president of the WNBA.
