Dan Rather goes after President Trump on racism

After Walter Cronkite retired decades ago, Dan Rather was the man people relied on for their nightly news. Since Rather retired, unfortunately, several news people have fallen from integrity to unemployment for alleged sexual harassment, including Charlie Rose and Matt Lauer, giving the news business a black eye. Rather has been quiet for the most part, but this week he unloaded on President Donald Trump after he drew criticism for this comments on LeBron James. (Trump’s own wife sided with James.) Rather said the President’s comments were “disgusting” and insinuated also that Trump is a racist. In fact, Rather described Trump’s “attack” on James as “racist” after he posted on Twitter that James wasn’t very bright. On social media, Rather commented: “This is apparently what the President of the United States feels the need to share with the world at what should be long past his bedtime? It’s a disgrace. It’s racist. And it’s the product of petty but dangerous hatreds. I repeat… this is the President???” Current news anchor Don Lemon also went after the President, referring to his failing immigration policies and James opening of a school for at-risk kids. “Who’s the real dummy? A man who puts kids in classrooms or one who puts kids in cages?”
