The Palmdale City Library, 700 E. Palmdale Blvd., will host at 6 p.m. July 23 a presentation and book signing with author A. Dru Kristenev for her “Baron” book series.

Kristenev will discuss a variety of subjects including the five volume “Baron” series.    The latest release in the “Baron” series, “Unknown Predator,” spins a tale of facts woven into suspense as two Northeast Oregon ranchers confront aggressive regulators when their livelihood is threatened by wolves that ravage their stock.

“One thing I’ve learned over the years of teaching college,” Kristenev said, “is that it’s a rare student who wants to read nonfiction, no matter how informative.  So, in 1999, it was given to me to write hard facts into fiction, making them more palatable for the reader.”

Kristenev has spent the last 20 years teaching at Inland Northwest colleges and touring the United States, meeting land owners and learning about the challenges they face to keep their businesses productive in an ever-changing regulatory environment.

The Palmdale City Library is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
