Registration is on for the city of Palmdale’s new Challenger Sports British Soccer Camp coming to Pelona Vista Park, 37800 Tierra Subida Ave., from June 25-29.
The British Camp will contain Challenger’s own brand of foot-skills, fakes, moves and turns, freestyle soccer, technical & tactical instruction, small sided games, daily world cup style tournaments, cultural education, character building and fun.
The Camp consists of three classes. “First Kicks” for ages 2 to 3, will meet daily from 9 to 10 a.m. This innovative program was created by childcare specialists, and introduces children to very basic soccer skills in a fun, progressive and caring manner. Each day, participants will improve balance, agility, coordination, social skills and cognitive abilities. Parental involvement is welcome. The fee is discounted to $93 for residents and $117 for non-residents.
“Mini Soccer” for ages 4 to 5, will meet daily from 10:30 a.m to noon. Players will be provided with a wide variety of individual and small group practices that will help them develop the technical fundamentals of the game. The fee is discounted to $107 for residents, and $134 for non-residents.
“Half Day” for ages 6 to 16, will meet daily from 9 a.m to noon. This class features individual skill development, core techniques, one-on-one skills, freestyle soccer, small-sided games and a “Camp World Cup.” Emphasis will be placed on respect, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship and leadership. This class is for all skill levels and participants will be separated by age. The fee is discounted to $135 for residents, and $167 for non-residents.
