SoCalGas and the city of South Gate joined forces recently to announce a pilot program to allow more homes to receive energy-efficiency upgrades under the utility’s Energy Savings Assistance (ESA) program.

The program provides income-qualified Gas. Company customers with free energy-saving home upgrades and also addresses issues such as asbestos removal, knob-and-tube wiring, or plumbing problems.

Officials gathered at South Gate City Hall on Monday to inform residents that they may be eligible for home improvements such as insulation, weather stripping, caulking and low-flow shower heads at no cost.
