President Trump reportedly has approved race summit with Colin Kaepernick, Kanye West

President Donald Trump has been accused of being a racist for quite some time, especially during his short tenure in the White House. Today the Huffington Post is reporting that he has approved a summit on race relations with former NFL player and activist Colin Kaepernick invited, as well as rapper Kanye West. The news reportedly comes from a Black pastor who met with President Trump, according to People magazine. In addition to Kaepernick and West, football legend Jim Brown and former boxing legend Mike Tyson will also be invited, Pastor Darrell Scott told People that the president is committed to the multi-racial meeting, which will include musicians and athletes, and take place perhaps as early as this summer. “We don’t want to sanitize it,” Scott said. “I want people from the left to attend. I want it to get heated, but I want it to be respectful.” Scott is organizing the summit with Andrew Giuliani, a top aide in the White House Office of Public Liason and son of former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, reported Politico, which described plans for the race conference as preliminary. Kaepernick may be the most surprising invitee, given Trump’s criticism of the NFL quarterback and the league after he started a widespread movement of athletes kneeling for the national anthem in protest of racial injustice and police brutality. He did not play in the league last season and has filed a grievance alleging the NFL has conspired to keep him out of a job because of his activism. Rapper West, a Trump supporter, drew outrage recently when he called slavery “a choice.”
