The Lancaster Museum of Art and History (MOAH) invites the public to celebrate the rich history of Lancaster with the Western Hotel Museum’s new permanent exhibit, “Exploring the Past: A Glimpse at Historic Lancaster.”
The exhibition showcases historic and prehistoric artifacts from MOAH’s permanent collection. Themes of focus include elements of Paleoindian and Native American archaeology, natural history, and geology, along with artifacts from local industries such as mining, railroad, and agriculture. Other themes include housewares and commonplace items related to the time period of the Western Hotel’s original operation, as well as a new exhibit dedicated to a former owner of the hotel, Myrtle “Myrtie” Webber, and her life in the Antelope Valley.
“Exploring the Past: A Glimpse at Historic Lancaster“ is on permanent display at the Western Hotel Museum, 557 W. Lancaster Blvd. There is no charge to view the exhibit. The Western Hotel is open on the second and fourth Friday and Saturday of each month from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
