The Golden Globes are considered a preview of what the Oscars will be like. This year the GGs kick off the award season on Sunday, Jan. 7, and the producers of the show recognizing actors, actresses and film related people are making sure plenty of African Americans are presenters, and hopefully winners as well. The list of presenters includes actor/rapper Common, actress Viola Davis, Mariah Carey, Dwayne Johnson, Octavia Spencer, Halle Berry and Kerry Washington. And Oprah Winfrey will be the recipient of the Cecil B. DeMille Award. Nominees include Denzel Washington for Best Actor, and Mary J. Blige and Octavia Spencer for Best Supporting Actress. In addition, “Black-ish” is nominated for Best Television Series. With Anthony Anderson also nominated for Best Television Series Performance.
