An Asian-American family has received threats after it displayed a Black Lives Matter sign. NBC News reports that the San Francisco family were even called “chinks.” Debbie Lee said the first unsigned typed note showed up in the mail and said “Get rid of your sign or we will.” Lee said her kids were upset, but the family didn’t take any action. More letters arrived, including one that suggested the family change the sign to “Chink Lives Matter.” Lee is Chinese American and her husband, Bill Tamayo, is Filipino. They decided to report the letters to the police because the last letter was more alarming because the author seemed to know they were Asian American. San Francisco Police are investigating.
