Former NBA super star and current billionaire Michael Jordan has committed $7 million to launch medical clinics for at-risk areas in Charlotte. It’s the biggest donation he’s ever made, reports the Associated Press. The gift will fund two Novant Health Michael Jordan Clinics, set to open in 2020. Jordan’s spokesperson said that he “feels to great about being able to impact the Charlotte community and help people who really deserve it.” Jordan was reportedly motivated by a study that said that poor children in Charlotte have the worst odds of those of any of the top 50 cities in the U.S. to lift themselves out of poverty. Jordan, who is a majority owner of the Charlotte Hornets NBA team, grew up in the area.
