Rep. Maxine Waters (D) pulled no punches during her sit-down interview with The Root at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 47th Annual Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C., when she called out President Donald Trump for being a white supremacist as well as blasting his campaign’s alleged ties to the Kremlin. However, as discouraging as life under Trump has been, Waters told the Root that his tyranny is no match for the collective power of Black women around the country who are standing up against him. “Black women, because we have evolved with strength and voting power and economic power, this is a special moment in the history of Black women,” she said. “And I think we’re going to be very key in helping to set this country right and to make sure that this president does not remain president.”
