Registration open for pickleball round robin at McAdam Park

The city of Palmdale will host a pickleball round robin tournament on Sunday, Oct. 22 at McAdam Park, 38115 30th St. East in Palmdale.

Pickleball is a sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. Played on a badminton-sized court and a slightly modified tennis net, participants use paddle and a plastic ball with holes. It is played as doubles or singles.

The tournament will consist of three divisions: rotating, early fixed partner doubles. and late fixed partner doubles. Rotating pickleball will begin at 8 am. Participants will enter individually and switch partners each round. Prizes will be awarded to the top two finishers.

Early fixed partner doubles will begin at 10 a.m. Participants will enter with a partner of the same skill level and compete against other teams. Prizes will be awarded to the top two teams.

Late fixed partner doubles will begin at 11:30 a.m. Participants will enter with a choice of partner and combine their skill levels.

The entry fee is $15 for one division, $25 for two divisions and $35 for three divisions. Proceeds from the tournament will be donated to the Palmdale Community Foundation for park improvements. A food truck will be onsite from 8 am to 2:30 p.m.
