The MAIN will open soon

The city of Santa Clarita will officially dedicate The MAIN, formerly the Repertory East Playhouse at 24266 Main St., on June 29 with a ribbon cutting ceremony in Old Town Newhall set for 4 p.m.

The city council in February signed a three-year leasing agreement for the then-vacant facility. As part of the Santa Clarita Arts Master Plan, which was adopted in March 2016, officials hope The MAIN will provide the city with a venue for community arts while allowing for outside entities to stage a variety of productions in the 81-seat theater.

At the ceremony, attendees can learn more about the history of The MAIN, as well as hear about the vision for the theater to be one of the top arts and entertainment destinations in the Santa Clarita Valley. After the program, guests can explore the art gallery in the lobby and see a new exhibit by designer, illustrator and artist, Mike Farrell.

Since the change in management, The MAIN has been transformed into a multi-use arts center that includes a monthly rotating art gallery and free programs each Thursday evening as part of the Thursdays@Newhall series. You can find out more about the  Thursdays@Newhall series by visiting Thursdays@Newhall.com.
