A cache of firearms, ammunition and illegal drugs were seized and eight persons arrested recently by deputies assigned to the Lancaster Community Appreciation Program (LANCAP).

The special squad of deputies, who work out of the Lancaster Sheriff’s station, had issued several search warrants over the past month and took into custody Victor Raul Diaz, 43, Nicole Rodriguez, 23, and Jason Wardyates, 40, at a home in the 43000 block of Beech Avenue. Tony Halstead, 61, was arrested later on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine for sale after LANCAP deputies served a search warrant at an apartment in the 43800 block of 15th Street West.

“During their search, deputies recognized the three named suspects and arrested them for forgery and carjacking,” a Sheriff’s department news release stated. “Deputies recovered a number of firearms and as well as ammunition, in addition to several fraudulent credit cards and checks.”

On June 2, following a hand-to-hand transaction, LANCAP deputies served a search warrant at a home in the 300 block of West Jackman Street and confiscated several pounds of marijuana, methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia. Four arrests were made.
