Workshop offers certification for high-speed rail

Entrepreneurs who plan to be in Northern California at the end of the month can attend a free half-day small busines certification workshop in Sacramento at the Center for Employment Training.

The workshop is being produced by the California High Speed Rail Authority in partnership with the NAACP on Tuesday April 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.and will provide participants with hands-on technical assistance that prepares them for the on-the-spot online certification process with the California Department of General Services.

The high-speed rail encompasses 119 miles of construction of track stretching from San Jose to Anahiem and is required to award 30 percent of contracts to small businesses (including 10 percent to disadvantaged enterpries, and 3 percent to disabled veterans.) Construction on the line will take place from 2016 to 2029.

Space for the workshop is limited, and interested individuals must RSVP with the event date, your full name, business name, address and contact number to small business associate Meilani Sabadlab at Meilani Savadlab@hsr.ca.gov or (916) 414-2578.

Participants must bring the following materials to the workshop: a personal laptop with wi-fi accessibility, the applicant’s federal tax returns for the past three years; (in pdf format); your federal employer identification number or Social Security for sole proprietorships; a Dunn and Bradstreet number (if applicable); as well as a contractors state license board number (if applicable).
