A first-alarm fire earlier this week destroyed a home in a rural area just outside Palmdale but no one was hurt.

Flames were seen shooting through the roof of the single-story home as firefighters arrived at 11:53 p.m. Monday to the 36800 block of Tovey Avenue, said Los Angeles County Fire Dispatch Supervisor Miguel Ornelas.

It took about 30 firefighters 50 minutes to knock down the blaze, Ornelas said, adding that the cause of the fire was not immediately determined.

It wasn’t immediately clear if anyone was displaced by the fire but Ornelas said services from the American Red Cross had not been requested.
