Locations for sand and bags

Piles of sandbags have been placed at strategic locations in Lancaster to assist residents protecting their property against flooding during this weekend’s expected storms. All fire stations in the Antelope Valley will give out 25 unfilled sandbags per resident.

The best way to fill the sandbags is to avoid topping off the bags and leave enough room to allow them to be easily tied off and stacked. Overfilling sandbags may cause them to tear and not stack property which, in turn, will compromise the sandbag barriers and allow water to seep through the openings.

In central Lancaster, sand is available at the northeast corner of Avenue L-8 and 6th Street West, and also at 615 W. Avenue H (city of Lancaster Maintenance Yard parking lot). In east Lancaster: 43000 N. 30th St. East (Soccer Center northeast corner, access off of 35th Street), and at 44910 27th St. East (Tierra Bonita Park parking lot). In west Lancaster: 32nd Street West and Avenue M (west of the drainage basin), and at 44558 N. 40th St. West (40th Street and Newgrove Avenue, north of the fire station).
