’Tis the season when ‘nail biting’ begins. Film critics, guilds and prestigious organizations such as the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), The Academy of Motion Pictures and The Hollywood Foreign Press announce their lists of hopefuls for a coveted award.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association was the first to announce their selected nominees for the 74th annual Golden Globe Awards which take place Jan. 8, 2017 and will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon.

Honoring people of color is what the NAACP Image Awards is all about.  The group recently announced their nominations for the 48th annual NAACP Image Awards, which recognizes achievements by people of color in TV, music, literature and film and honors individuals or groups who promote social justice through creative endeavors.

The NAACP is collaborating with TV One to bring the awards showto life.

NAACP national board of directors chairman Roslyn M. Brock said,  “The NAACP is delighted to have a great collaboration with TV One, and we look forward to working with them again to create a memorable evening of entertainment celebrating the hard work, perseverance, and achievements of those in our community,”

NAACP president and CEO Cornell William Brooks added, “The Image Awards is the premier showcase for art and advocacy reflecting the depth and diversity of the African-American experience. It is an American prism through which we see a breadth of culture and color reflected in film, television, music and literature in ways that reveal our shared humanity. At a moment when America is so divided, the Image Awards represents an hour that brings us together.”
