The Rams have yet to move into their new home. The team still shares an arena with the USC Trojans, not far from their designated lot adjacent to the Forum. Students at Kelso Elementary in Inglewood can see the development with pressed faces against the fence of their schoolyard which faces the site for the new stadium.

The community is anticipating the arrival of the millennium gold and new century blue as if they’re already neighbors.

That’s exactly what the team is hoping to do; be a good partner in the city of Inglewood.

Each month, the Rams front office staff will take time to volunteer with local non-profits. The program, which began in St. Louis in 2009, has resulted in more than 12,000 hours of community service.

As part of its commitment to veterans, players Maurice Alexander, Michael Brockers, Marqui Christian, Cody Davis, Aaron Donald, Dominique Easley, Nic Grigsby, Matt Longacre, Robert Quinn, Eugene Sims, Cam Thomas and Ethan Westbrooks, along with representatives from Wells Fargo & the American Red Cross joined together with Los Angeles-area students to support the “Holidays for Heroes” program.

The program invites the public to write and send notes of gratitude and encouragement to current service members, veterans and military families during the holiday season.

Students at Kelso Elementary in Inglewood and Acacia Elementary in Thousand Oaks wrote cards that will be sent to service members overseas this holiday season.

“Our armed forces deserve all the support we can give them, especially during the holidays when they’re away from their families and loved ones,” said Aaron Donald, Rams defensive tackle, who helped write holiday cards today.”

The effort, which features a Rams player as an honorary chair, has resulted in more than 80,000 personalized holiday thank you cards being sent to active and veteran military serving overseas and domestically.

“Holidays for Heroes” is open to the public and interested parties can contact their local Red Cross Chapter to participate.
