Salute to veterans today

The city of Santa Clarita will honor its past and present military members with a special Veterans Day Ceremony today at 11 a.m. at Veterans Historical Plaza, 24275 N. Walnut St.

The ceremony will include a special reading in respect to those who remain missing in action or prisoners of war. Command Sergeant Major Edward O. Littleton will speak, and there will be a changing-of-the-flags ceremony conducted by the Knights of Columbus Santa Clarita Assembly and Vietnam Veterans of America.

Other featured speakers will be members of the Santa Clarita City Council, Rabbi Mark Blazer and Ted Olsen, who will serve as master of ceremonies. Celena McMahon will sing the “National Anthem” and “God Bless America,”  while Men of Harmony will offer their rendition of “America the Beautiful.”

The Veterans Day Ceremony is presented in collaboration between the city of Santa Clarita, American Family Funding, American Legion Post 507, Back to the War Zone, Blue Star Dads, College of the Canyons Veterans Program and Elks Lodge 2379 among many other contributors.
