The city of Palmdale’s neighborhood services department will host its next online Neighborhood Watch presentations on Wednesday, November 2 and Monday, Nov.  21 at 7 p.m.

This 30-minute presentation will provide residents of Palmdale information on the benefits of neighborhood watch, how to start a group and what is involved in maintaining a group.

The online meeting room will accommodate 25 participants, so those interested will need to sign up early by calling the Crime Prevention office at (661) 267-5170 or emailing their information to crimeprevention@cityofpalmdale.org.

The presentation will be held online using GoToMeeting and does not require any downloads on your computer to participate. Residents will receive an email invitation and a link to click on that will take them directly to the meeting.  Users of tablets or smart phones will need to download the free GoToMeeting app to participate. No cameras or microphones are needed and participants will be able to ask questions via a text chat box during the meeting.

“This is something our residents have been asking for and we are very happy to be offering our presentations online,” said Crime Prevention Officer Ruth Oschmann.

“Neighborhood Watch is the best and easiest way to learn not only about crime trends, but also disaster preparedness, home security and personal safety issues,” said Crime Prevention Officer Kery German. “Join us for our online presentation and find out how forming a neighborhood watch group takes very little time and effort. It’s the perfect way to meet your neighbors, learn how to deter crime in your neighborhood, help prepare for a disaster and more.”

For more information about the meeting or to learn more about Neighborhood Watch, please call Palmdale’s neighborhood services department at (661) 267-5170 or (661) 267-5181.
