A brush fire scorched about 70 acres earlier this week in the Elizabeth Lake area near Lancaster, but no structures were threatened and no one was hurt.

There was no immediate word on what sparked the fire, which was reported about noon near the 13200 block of Johnson Road, the county fire department reported.

About 100 firefighting personnel, along with two SuperScooper aircraft and three helicopters, were sent to battle the flames.

The fire department reported at 1:53 p.m. that the fire’s forward progress had been halted with about 70 acres burned.
