“Martin” actor Tommy Ford died on Wednesday in an Atlanta hospital after suffering a ruptured aneurysm in his abdomen. He was 52.

Ford, who portrayed the character Tommy Strawn in the popular 1990s sitcom, was hospitalized on Oct. 9 after battling unspecified health issues prior to the emergency. His condition reportedly worsensed quickly after his arrival. In late September, Ford shared photos on social media that showed him in a hospital. “I’m having knee replacement surgery this morning. Please keep me in your prayers! Love you all,” he said. One week later Ford shared an image of himself getting physical therapy on his knee.

Ford’s wife, Gina, told TMZ this week that “the family is still praying for him.”

Ford, 52, starred in all five seasons of “Martin.” In addition to the sitcom, Ford had roles on “New York Undercover” and “The Parkers.” He also wrote a series of children’s books endorsing the importance of avoiding drugs and violence. 9urHis website reports he is in the process of filming a documentary.
