Detectives probe shooting death

Sheriff’s homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the shooting death of a man in Lancaster.

Detectives were called to the 44000 block of Gingham Boulevard shortly after 11 p.m. Aug. 22, said Deputy Tony Moore of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

Deputies responded to the area regarding a “shots fired” call, a sheriff’s statement said. “When they arrived on scene, they discovered a trail of blood that led to the backyard of a residence. They followed the trail and located an unconscious man who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. Deputies immediately performed CPR on the victim.”

The wounded man was taken to a hospital, where he died. His name was withheld, pending family notification.
