The city of Lancaster Public Safety Department on Aug. 18 will host from 6 to 8 p.m. its quarterly Neighborhood Watch meeting.

Neighborhood Watch is one of the nation’s oldest and most effective crime prevention programs. The program enlists the active participation of citizens with law enforcement to deter crime, solve problems, and improve the quality of life throughout the community. Lancaster has 245 Neighborhood Watch groups.

Lancaster residents are encouraged to help reduce crime by getting to know their neighbors and consider joining or forming a Neighborhood Watch group.

The meeting will be conducted in the Lancaster City Council Chambers, 44933 Fern Ave. For more details, call (661) 723-6063 or e-mail the Lancaster Public Safety Department at publicsafety@cityoflancasterca.org.
