The Lancaster Chamber of Commerce is encouraging local businesses to help celebrate the 78th Annual Antelope Valley Fair and Alpha Festival by sprucing up and decorating their establishments.
The A.V. Fair Business Dress and Decorate Contest coincides with the fair theme “Who Let the KIDS Out” with judging scheduled between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Aug. 16. Creativity, originality and adherence to the theme are premium factors, as well as employee participation. First-, second- and third-place winners will be awarded in each of these categories; one grand prize winner will receive fair tickets for up to 50 staff members, an ad in a local paper, and a VIP spot in the parade on Aug. 20. Decorations should remain in place through the conclusion of the fair on Aug. 28.
To participate, complete an entry form (tinyurl.com/AVFairDecorateApp2016) and return it by 3 p.m. Aug. 12 to the chamber of commerce headquarters, 554 W. Lancaster Blvd.
Dress and Decorate is one of several festivities taking place prior to one of the southland’s most popular county fairs. A festival following the Aug. 20 parade will showcase the Antelope Valley’s rich agricultural history.
