Witnesses in fatal crash

Sheriff’s traffic investigators are seeking the public’s help to locate any witnesses to a fatal traffic crash in Lancaster.

The collision took place at about 3:30 p.m. July 20, at the intersection of West Avenue G and 55th Street West, according to Deputy Lisa Jansen.

According to the sheriff’s department, a 2012 Freightliner, three-axle water truck was heading west on West Avenue G toward 55th Street West when the truck experienced a tire failure.

The truck then veered onto the north shoulder of the road where it hit a chain link fence and rolled over, Jansen said. The driver was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital where he died.

There was no indication that drugs or alcohol played a role in this crash, according to Jansen.
