The Friends of the Palmdale Library will conduct its next monthly meeting at 4 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Chimbole Cultural Center, 38350 Sierra Hwy. The group meets on the first Wednesday of each month and, since 1977, has provided assistance which cannot be met by the city budget. They support programs to create enthusiasm for the library and to foster enrichment of the community.

On Aug. 6 at 6 p.m. the library will host a free conflict management class. Denise Yusuff, a local professional mediator, will conduct the class where participants will learn techniques to help reduce conflict and how to handle disagreements in a positive manner.

“We encounter conflict everyday,” Yusuff said. “Conflict can present itself at work or in our personal lives. Come learn techniques which will help you handle disagreements with family, coworkers and neighbors.”

The Palmdale City Library is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. For more details about the Friends of the Palmdale Library meeting, or the conflict management class, call (661) 267-5600 or visit www.cityofpalmdale.org/library.
