The Los Angeles Sparks held a sneaker night in honor of legendary basketball coach Pat Summitt. The Sparks players wore orange shoestrings, the color of the Tennessee Vols. Summitt lost her battle with Alzheimer’s disease early this week.  She served as head coach of the University of Tennessee, coaching the Lady Vols for 38 years. and she was an American icon in women’s sports, winning eight NCAA championships.  Veteran player Candace Parker, who was coached by Summit, dug deep and pulled her team out of a twenty-point deficit by scoring 31 points, defeating the Dallas Wings 89-84.
