Unique BMX show tomorrow

The Palmdale City Library, 700 E. Palmdale Blvd., will host tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. a free BMX demonstration featuring John Parker, an author and BMX professional on hand to perform amazing two-wheel tricks.

Parker is director and spokesperson for StuntMasters and the BMX Impact, a Phoenix, Ariz.-based motivational group that conducts professional BMX demonstrations. Parker began his BMX competition shortly after high school in Paso Robles and has performed in many countries. He competed for more than a decade in X Games, winning two MTV Sports and Music Festivals, multiple ASA Tour (extreme sports) events, and won a gold medal at the NBC Gravity Games. Parker has performed with Tony Hawk at Universal Studios, at the 2012 Olympic Ceremonies and at hundreds of other events.

“Come check out an awesome show and ‘Read for the Win’ at our Summer Reading Program,” said Thomas Vose, library director. Friends of the Palmdale City Library is sponsoring the event.

The library is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. For more details, call (661) 267-5600.
