‘Music in the Air’ tonight

West Coast Classical will present tonight at 7:30 a performance of “Music in the Air” at the Palmdale Playhouse, 38334 10th St. East. The performance is one of three special events this weekend with the culmination set for tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. with “Sounds 2 Beautiful.”

“Music in the Air” will feature the West Coast Classical string orchestra, wind ensemble, and saxophone and flute choirs which will perform classical, pop and jazz compositions. Highlights of the Saturday performance, directed by Patricia Graham, will include Orca Symphony by Serj Tankian from the Grammy-winning rock band System Of A Down. Also featured will be the popular Donna Diana Overture by Emil Nikolaus von Reznicek and also the piece “Clarinet Concert in E Flat” by Franz Krommer.

Patricia Graham has conducted West Coast Classical for 18 years. It was formerly known as the Palmdale Concert and Symphonic Orchestra. West Coast Classical is a non-profit organization that provides musical arts for community members who are versed in orchestral, ensemble and classroom music (education) experiences. The musicians range in age from 10 to 70 years.
