Lancaster’s Bravery Brewing Company, 42705 8th Street West, has unveiled a major expansion which will allow the firm to significantly increase its production capacity. Last year, the company acquired an adjacent 6,000-square-foot warehouse and began the build-out of a new 15-barrel brewhouse, production and packaging facility. The new brewhouse, initially capable of producing an additional 3,500 barrels of beer annually, will begin producing beer by the end of the month. There are plans to install up to 12 more tanks to provide capacity to brew up to 18,000 barrels of beer each year. The present capacity is 800 barrels brewed annually.

“The city of Lancaster strives to create a culture where our local small businesses can thrive,” said Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris. “Bravery Brewing Company has experienced great success and we are very happy to see them continue to expand.” Since opening for business in 2012, the company has established itself as a hip, happening venue for beer drinkers and features new brews on a regular basis. The tasting room has become a community hot spot and the beer is now available at more than 30 Antelope Valley venues as well as at numerous locations throughout Southern California. Bravery Brewing Company is one of the key partners in Lancaster’s annual Field of Drafts Beer Festival; they’ll partner with the city’s Bacon, Blues and Brews event scheduled May 14 in downtown Lancaster.

Owned and operated by Bart and Sandra Avery;  Brian Avery;  R. Lee Ermey; Richard and Marjorie Avery, and David Connett, the company’s inspiration began when Brian Avery, a certified brewmaster, began home-brewing shortly after graduating from college. He developed a fondness for brewing traditional styles as well as the use of experimental ingredients. The company is in the process of expanding the site even more, including physical enhancements such as an expanded outdoor patio, a paid membership society for unique and exclusive beer releases, and an increased focus on so-called “barrel-aged” beers. They also want to offer weekend tours to showcase the entire beer-making process.

“This expansion means a continued increase in the quality and consistency of our beer and will open more creative avenues for exploring new styles of beer,” said Brian Avery.

The public tasting room is open from 4 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 4 to 11 p.m. Friday, noon to 11 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
