The Lancaster JetHawks are celebrating their 20th anniversary season with the inaugural “20th Anniversary Monday” series of special events at the Hangar. There will be six special events this season featuring “throwback” ticket prices, various promotions, music and lots of giveaways.
During select Monday home games the JetHawks, in partnership with the city of Lancaster, will distribute nostalgic T-shirt jerseys which pay homage to former members who have played at The Hangar for the past 20 years. On May 16, June 6 and on Aug. 1, the first 500 fans in attendance will receive T-shirt jerseys of former Lancaster Stealth and Los Angeles Dodgers star Juan Pierre; former JetHawks and Arizona Diamondbacks star Brandon Webb, and 2016 Cy Young winner and current member of the Houston Astros Dallas Keuchel, respectively.
The JetHawks debuted in Lancaster in 1996 and since then have won more than 1,000 games as well as a pair of California League Championships. Over the years, more than 100 current and former Major League Baseball players have played for the JetHawks.
“In celebrating 20 years in the Antelope Valley, we couldn’t ask for a better partner than the city of Lancaster,” said Tom Backemeyer, JetHawks executive vice president. “We are excited to celebrate this historic anniversary with our fans all season long, and we look forward to another 20 years right here in Lancaster.”
Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris said that competitive sports has always brought communities together.
“The Lancaster JetHawks have now been bringing Lancaster residents together for 20 years, not only providing great fun and entertainment, but giving back to the community by getting involved in numerous charity events, community projects, service projects, and the like,” Parris said. “We congratulate the JetHawks on their 20th anniversary and look forward to being their home for another 20 years.”
