Police released surveillance footage today in hopes

of generating tips that lead to three suspects who attacked and fatally stabbed

a 23-year-old in the Westlake district of Los Angeles.

“Anybody should be able to walk anywhere in L.A., so there is no wrong

place, wrong time,” LAPD Capt. Jeff Nolte said. “What we have here is

multiple suspects attacking one single victim.”

Oscar Lazo was involved in a fight with three male suspects about 10

p.m. last June 23 in the area of Rockwood Street and Union Avenue and died at

the scene, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. No weapon was

“We need the community to come forward because this could be anybody’s

brother, son or daughter,” Nolte said.

The Los Angeles City Council is offering a $50,000 reward for

information leading to the attackers.

“I also hope that anyone who’s watching who has a conscience who knows

something about what happened can turn in that information of what they know,

which could help bring a measure of peace to the family,” Councilman Mitch

O’Farrell said.
