There are seats remaining for the city of Palmdale’s latest bus excursion, this time on April 16 to the new Broad Museum in downtown Los Angeles.

The bus will depart the Palmdale Transportation Center, 39000 Clock Tower Plaza, at 9 a.m. and return at approximately 5 p.m. Tickets are $25 ($20 for Palmdale residents) and may be purchased at www.cityofpalmdale.org/playpalmdale, or at the city’s Recreation and Culture office, 382690 10th Street East, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Upcoming trips include a visit on April 30 to Old Mission San Buenaventura, departing at 8:30 a.m. and returning at 5:30 p.m., and on May 21 to the California Strawberry Festival in Oxnard, departing at 8:30 a.m. and returning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for these two events are also $25 each for the general public, and $20 for Palmdale residents.

“The Broad is a new, contemporary art museum located in downtown Los Angeles,” said Paula Leszkiewicz, Palmdale recreation supervisor. “The museum is home to nearly 2,000 works of art in the Broad collection, which is among the most prominent holdings of postwar and contemporary art worldwide. The Broad is within walking distance of the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Museum of Contemporary Art, L.A. Central Library, and Grand Park.”

Old Mission San Buenaventura is located along the Southern California coastline and welcomes visitors to its beautiful gardens and faithfully restored artifacts. It is ninth in the historic series of 21 missions founded in the 18th Century by Saint Junipero Serra, and it is a component of the Historic Walking Tour of Ventura. It is also located within close proximity of other historically relevant builds and venues.

The California Strawberry Festival may be the most “delicious” of any such gathering nationwide. Because most of the nation’s strawberries are grown in Oxnard, the festival boasts the popular fruit in just about every way imaginable. The festival will also feature concert performances, more than 200 fine arts and crafts booths, cooking demonstrations, children’s rides and activities and many more contests.
