Chamber hosts annual business gathering

The Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce (GLAAACC) will celebrate tonight its 23rd annual Economic Awards Dinner today at the JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE, located at 900 W. Olympic Blvd. in downtown Los Angeles. The reception begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the dinner and program. The theme for this year is “Advocating, Educating and Creating Business.” The invited keynote speaker is U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzer. Multi-talented actor and entertainer, Flex Alexander will serve as the event emcee, and Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Shanice will provide the entertainment.

GLAAACC hosts this yearly event to recognize businesses and individuals who have contributed to the economic growth and development of the African American business community.

The chamber was established to help facilitate the advancement and economic expansion of African American businesses.

Among the distinguished guests expected at this year’s celebration are Mayor Eric Garcetti, as well as corporations such as AECOM, AEG, American Honda Motor Co. Inc., AT&T, G&C Equipment Corporation, Hensel Phelps Construction Company, Microsoft, Northrop Grumman Corporation, Sempra Energy Utilities, Southern California Edison, Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A., Union Bank and Wells Fargo.
