Sheriff’s deputies this week began an investigation into an alleged “text threat” to students at Rosamond High School.

Deputies were dispatched to the campus on Tuesday after a call came in referring to a male student who was believed to be distraught and allegedly threatened to shoot students. The teen was found later away from campus and was taken into custody for questioning.

A statement from the Kern County Sheriff’s office said: “Deputies from the Rosamond substation responded to the school to protect the students while other deputies from Rosamond and Mojave attempted to locate the suspect.”

The teen did not have any weapons and was subsequently transported and booked into Juvenile Hall for PC422 (terrorist threats).

Some parents of students said the school did not immediately send out a text message about the incident.
