Tenants and landlords throughout Los Angeles County have a way to report any and all grievances they may have in regard to housing.

The Housing Rights Center (HRC) has three locations which will field and try to answer questions about possible housing discrimination, rent increases, repairs, security deposits, renters’ rights in foreclosure, and many other issues.

HRC representatives are available in the Antelope Valley on the third Thursday of each month. Interested parties may meet with representatives on Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to noon at Lancaster City Hall, 44933 Fern Ave., and later from 1 to 4 p.m. at PalmdaleSaves, 1002 E. Avenue Q-12.

The HRC can provide free landlord-tenant counseling, discrimination complaint investigations and educational programs which may help both the tenant and landlord clear up any and all disputes about rights and responsibilities between the two parties. The center engages in outreach/education, investigation/testing and legal advocacy to identify potential barriers to fair housing laws in both Los Angeles and Ventura counties, as well as to help counteract and eliminate discriminatory housing practices.

The offices are located in Los Angeles at 3255 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 1150; in Van Nuys at 6320 Van Nuys Blvd., Suite 311, and in Pasadena at 1020 N. Fair Oaks Ave.
