Marie Kerr Park in Palmdale, 39700 30th Street West, will host on Nov. 7 the American Heart Association Antelope Valley Heart Walk.

Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the recreation center off 30th Street West, with the opening ceremony scheduled for 9 a.m. and the walk beginning immediately after.

The event will include a 5K and a 1-mile “Survivor” route. A list of activities will be available for kids after the walk, and visitors can also learn about heart health, including blood pressure screenings. There will be free CPR demonstrations.

The American Heart Association is the nation’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to building better lives, hopefully free of heart disease and stroke. The money collected through the walk will fund research and initiatives that help to promote the prevention, treatment and better patient care in the areas of cardiovascular disease which is reportedly the leading cause of death in the United States.

“Join walkers from across the Antelope Valley as they step out to have fun, get inspired and support a meaningful cause,” said John Mylnar, Palmdale communications manager.
