Marie Kerr Park in Palmdale tomorrow will host the third annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K non-competitive walk. Registration begins at 7 a.m., followed by an opening ceremony set for 7:45 a.m. and the walk beginning promptly at 8 a.m. Also, a special pet adoption fair and food drive will take place from 9 a.m. to noon and will be hosted by Assemblyman Tom Lackey of Palmdale.

“The [walk] will take place rain or shine, so be sure to check the weather forecast and dress appropriately,” said Annie M. Pagliaro, Palmdale recreation supervisor. “The walk is not a race, and walkers do not need to complete the entire walk, if unable.” The grass areas of the park will feature entertainment, refreshments and snacks.

The pet adoption and food drive come at a time when there are many available shelter pets who need a good, caring home. The food drive is designed specifically for pets with a collection of donated canned pet food to be directed to local shelters.
