Southern California high school students interested in the performing arts can apply to be part of the 28th annual Spotlight arts education and scholarship program. The deadline to submit an application is Oct. 19.

The Music Center offers arts training, experience and workforce development skills taught by professional artists and arts administrators and all student who apply will receive feedback from a distinguished panel of judges and a certificate of achievement. Additionally, the young people will have an opportunity to receive audition experience and knowledge in their respective performance disciplines during master classes and performances.

The process begins with submitting an online video audition in acting, ballet, classical instrument, classical voice, jazz instrumental, non-classical dance and non-classical voice.

In the second round, students who advance to this level will audition live before a panel of judges.

Then 15 semifinalists in each category will participate in a master class to obtain feedback before the semi-final auditions. Two grand-prize finalists and an honorable mention finalist will be selected and announced in each category after the semifinals. A grand finale performance will be held June 11.
