The city of Palmdale has announced its fall schedule of bus excursions to various locations and events throughout Southern California.

A trip is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 26 to the Global Village Festival in Irvine. It will be an opportunity to “travel the world in a day” because the multicultural event features international cuisine, live entertainment, a children’s village, cultural exhibits and an international marketplace. Tickets are $25 and $20 for Palmdale residents.

The Pasadena ARTWalk will feature its “Rise of the Jack O’Lanterns” on Oct. 10. Tickets are $38 and discounted to $33 for Palmdale residents. The Pasadena ARTWalk highlights some of the best Southern California visual artists showcasing their work in painting, sculpture, watercolor, photography, mixed media, ceramics, jewelry, drawing and printmaking. Rise of the Jack O’Lanterns is a unique, all-age Halloween show featuring more than 5,000 professionally-carved Jack O’Lanterns by artists and sculptors in a stunning night-time display at Descanso Gardens.

“We’ll do the driving while you enjoy some of the most fun and entertaining spots and events in Southern California,” said Paula Leszkiewicz, Palmdale recreation supervisor.

They’re off to Big Bear Village and Alpine Zoo on Oct. 25 from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 ($25 for Palmdale residents). Travelers can explore the Village at Big Bear Lake and discover a combination of Alpine-style architecture and modern amenities. Once there, visitors will travel to Big Bear Zoo which is a rehabilitation facility that offers a safe haven for injured, orphaned and otherwise indigenous wild animals. Some of the zoo’s inhabitants include black bears, mountain lions, eagles, owls and foxes.

“Football! The Exhibition” is among the most widely anticipated reviews of West Coast football and visitors can witness this display on Nov. 7. The bus will depart at 9:30 a.m. for the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley and return at 5 p.m. Tickets are $25 ($20 for Palmdale residents).

The temporary exhibit features some of the most rare, historic and iconic football artifacts, including game-worn and signed jerseys, Lombardi and Heisman trophies, Super Bowl rings and special sections featuring the Los Angeles Rams, and the historic rivalry between UCLA and USC.

Grand Central Market at 3rd and Broadway in Downtown Los Angeles has operated continuously since 1917. The day trip will take place on Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with tickets priced at $25 ($20 for Palmdale residents). Grand Central offers just about every type of international cuisine within its 30,000-square-foot space. It is a food emporium and retail marketplace that showcases California’s distinctive culinary ingredients, chefs and specialty items. Early in its history, the famous Angels Flight Railway was a favorite way for wealthy residents of Bunker Hill to dispatch servants to Grand Central Market for goods and wares.

Finally, a trip to the Harvest Festival in Pomona will take place on Dec. 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 ($20 for Palmdale residents).
